    Junior Battery Engineer

    Smart Village, Egypt

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Battery Engineer to join our growing energy storage team. In this role, you will work alongside senior engineers and researchers to design, test, and analyze battery components and packs for high-performance applications. This is an excellent opportunity for an entry-level engineer looking to build a hands-on foundation in energy storage, battery management systems (BMS), cell characterization, and battery system integration.

    Responsibilities

    • Design & Integration
    • Assist in mechanical or electrical prototyping, design-documentation of battery modules and packs using CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
    • Perform structural stress analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) thermal/flow simulations to evaluate battery cell, module, and pack designs under mechanical and thermal loads.
    • Ensure proper electro-mechanical integration between cells, BMS, wiring, thermal paths, and mechanical structures.
    • Assist in sizing, selecting, and sourcing key battery system components, ensuring compliance with design targets and cost constraints.
    • Support thermal and safety assessments, including thermal runaway mitigation and cell selection.
    • Maintaining accurate engineering Bills of Materials (BOMs) to track cost, weight, and revision history.
    • Help evaluate hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing or software integration for Battery Management Systems (BMS).
    • Coordinate with suppliers and factories on manufacturability, tolerances, and lead times.
    • Cell & Pack Testing
    • Prepare, execute, and monitor cell-level and module-level cycle life, capacity, rate capability, and thermal performance testing.
    • Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, test channels, environmental chambers, and cyclers.
    • Data Analysis & Reporting
    • Collect, process, and analyze electrochemical test data using Python, MATLAB, or Excel.
    • Identify performance trends, capacity degradation mechanisms, and anomalies.
    • Prepare clear technical documentation, test reports, and presentation slides for cross-functional review.

    Must Have

    • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related discipline.
    • Experience: 0–3 years of professional engineering experience in battery development, energy storage, or automotive/hardware engineering.
    • Foundational understanding of lithium-ion battery chemistry, operating principles, and safety protocols.
    • Basic proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
    • Foundational coursework or project experience in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for structural stress and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for heat transfer/fluid flow (e.g., ANSYS, SolidWorks Simulation).
    • Comfort working in a laboratory setting, using basic benchtop electronics equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies), and following safety standard operating procedures (SOPs).
    • Strong analytical problem-solving skills, strong written/verbal communication, and an eager, adaptable mindset.
