We are seeking Functional Safety Engineers and Functional Safety Managers with hands-on experience in the development of automotive powertrain systems. The successful candidate will lead or contribute to the implementation of the ISO 26262 functional safety lifecycle across customer projects.
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage Functional Safety activities according to ISO 26262.
- Define and maintain the Functional Safety Concept (FSC) and Technical Safety Concept (TSC).
- Perform Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment (HARA).
- Derive and manage Functional Safety Requirements (FSR) and Technical Safety Requirements (TSR).
- Conduct safety analyses including FMEA, FTA, and DFA where applicable.
- Ensure end-to-end safety traceability throughout the development lifecycle.
- Collaborate with System, Software, Hardware, Calibration, and Test teams.
- Support Functional Safety assessments, audits, and customer reviews.
- Interface directly with customers regarding Functional Safety deliverables.
- For Manager roles: lead Functional Safety activities across multiple projects, mentor engineers, and define safety processes and best practices.
Must Have
- Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering, Automotive Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Mandatory experience in automotive Powertrain systems (ICE, Hybrid, Electric Powertrain, Battery, BMS, Inverter, Motor Control, Transmission, or related domains).
- Strong practical experience applying ISO 26262.
- Experience preparing safety work products across the Functional Safety lifecycle.
- Experience with safety analysis methods such as HARA, FMEA, and FTA.
- Good understanding of automotive systems engineering and the V-Model.
- Excellent communication skills in English.
Nice to have
- Experience with ASPICE and Requirements Engineering.
- Experience using tools such as Codebeamer, DOORS, Polarion, Medini Analyze, or similar.
- Experience working with global OEMs or Tier-1 suppliers.
- TÜV Functional Safety certification is considered a strong advantage.
